Hello,
Not completely related to reef fish, but one of my freshwater pufferfish has been sick, and to better determine what it is (likely an internal parasite) and for direct treatment, I want to isolate it in quarantine. The only issue is, the only available quarantine tank I own is occupied by my evil clownfish and has been serving as a prison for the past three months. Though I’m willing to move my clownfish into my main reef tank and see if it behaves, I was wondering if it would be okay to use something else as a freshwater QT tank, such as a sterlite bin, rather than moving the clown out and converting the tank into freshwater. Does anyone else use sterlites? Would the plastic absorb medications? Or should I move the clownfish out and use a real aquarium for quarantine purposes? Thanks!

Release the clownfish (or back to the LFS) - and do the approrpriate thing for your puffer - if its a choice

Look at articles like this.
But what I do is look up the numbers/ symbols and if they made for food or drink then means fit for human consumption so generally reef safe.
As you probably know if using rodi water which is more purer water than say tap water then it makes it easier for stuff to leach into it ,sorry having brain freeze and forget the terminology on it ha ha
But yeah I just look up the numbers and see.
Not sure what a sterlite bin is so going g have Google it

Edit" ok just googled it and just a storage box so should have numbers/ symbols on that you can check on to see if food / drink safe

"Our products are made of polypropylene and polyethylene that are safe for food storage. No PVCs, Latex, Teflon, Phthalate Chemicals, fungicides, Bishphenol A (BPAs), or antibacterial chemicals are used in our manufacturing process."

EZY Storage containers work great. They have a 5 on the bottom which means they're PP BPA free. They make them in a bunch of different sizes and they could be found in Home Depot or target.

I’ve decided that I’ll move the clownfish and turn that tank into a quarantine. Although the clown has killed a few fish in the past, I’ve upgraded my tank since the last time she was with everyone else, so hopefully the new scape will confuse her…
