Hello,

Recently upgraded my LEDs to Steve's retrofit kit in my 29 gallon Biocube. Everything seems to be doing OK post acclimation (for the most part), but I was curious if anyone has had success with this lighting system. I would love to hear from someone more experienced than myself what kind of lighting parameters you have found ideal (ie: photoperiod, intensity, etc).

I am running a bright blue 14k system (the jedimasterben setup).

Thanks for any input!

Mark

I have seen some nice tanks with those lights. I went with the rapidled retro kit for my biocube and can't complain. I think the biggest challenge is getting them dialed in. Did you get the typhoon controller?

Actually I got the Bluefish controller. Similar, just provides the wireless option to control it from your phone and some other bells and whistles.

Nice, I looked at those. Do you like the controller? I bought the storm controller for my kit and it works well for it's purpose.

I really like it--very nice to be able to control it from a mobile device and setup was a breeze. If I had a larger setup I would want a different controller that could accommodate wavemakers and dosing pumps, but for the Biocube I think it works quite well. I just want to make sure I'm getting the most out of it...

I have these lights for my 12g nanotube and have been very happy with them. I have a mix of softies, LPS and a few easy SPS. I have the hood mounted about 6 inches above the tank so the lights aren't as close to the water. I run my blues at 40% for 8 hours and my whites at 12% for 3-4 hours. The whites are really strong. I still tinker with the settings from time to time, but this has worked for me so far. They also have great customer service.

Oh and I have the typhon driver.

Yeah the phone feature makes those nice. I do hate the push and turn knob the storm uses. Takes a bit longer to make changes.

I used a Steve's kit over a 28x28x30H cube. Typhon controller. I really liked the kit, it worked well. The only thing that was annoying were the fans. They were all noticeably loud. They were also mounted so that the round part pointed down toward the tank. Luckily I was able to modify the canopy so they weren't visible.
