Hello. I am needing some advice. I recently bought a Stichodactyla haddoni from the store. I had ordered it and they went to collect it from their supplier and then posted it to me. It arrived and i put it in the tank in a spot i thought be suitable for it. I noticed it wasnt attaching and floating. I then took it out and had a closer look and i noticed their is no visible foot on the bottom, just a grey flat bottom. Is this normal? can the foot retract or is it missing its foot? I tried making a hole and put a rock beside to block waterflow to help it stay in the spot but 2 days later and still not attached and just sitting there. I put some clownfish in today and they went right to it, so would like to keep it.

Any help be greatly appreicieated. I have contact the store but they saying it doesnt have a foot but this isnt what i have read online. Also im in china so language barrier with them is limited
I dont see any torn or broken tissue underneath though and is all smooth. There does seem to be a slit so wondered if foot can retract?

Hi and welcome.

Anemones do not have feet as implied. They have a column, often called a base as well.

Hey! Im happy to have found joined the group.

Is this column visible? I also have a BTA and its visible on this. I have also googled other Stichodactyla haddoni images and seems it should be quite visible. But as i say it isnt torn or damaged underneath if column had been broken off (if thats possible) and i do see a small slit underneath so wondered if it is able to retract it? Here is a google image of what i thought it should have but mine just has the upper grey and not the white column

Many haddoni carpets will lie almost flat with the substrate with little or no column visible at all.
Yours looks fine.
