I've been growing this thing out since it was a brown turd on a plug! Couple months later it turns green. Then I have this bright orange digi I put next to it. Couple months later I have this!
What is it first of all, and anyone have any idea what to expect from this? It looks kinda cool

Where/ who did you get the frag at?... really hard to say but to me it looks nice

I'm new to stick keeping and collecting. Is this thing grafting or is it common to have SPS with two drastically different colors mixed throughout the colony?

no.... its common for 2 or 3 different colors in sps.....
grafting is different where the colors don't fade together, it's more of like a candy cane with distinct lines that seperate the colors if that makes sense....check out the grafted simplex you will see what i mean...;)

Ah, yes thank you for the clarification on grafting!! This one does just basically swirl around in random places. You can see how its only in a little bit of the base, can't see the stem in the pic, but then again the tips.

What is interesting about this piece Rob is the orange growth tips but it could be just that the coralites are orange. If it has orange growth tips I think you have a pretty sweet piece. Sign me up for a frag when it grows out.:)
