I have a 47 gallon sps dominant tank. Recently I decided to try a higher than normal alk to boost growth. My PO4 and NO3 have been stable at 0.05 and ~5-10. The tank looks healthy. No signs of cyano or dinos for months. I feed pretty heavily including oyster and phytofeast a couple times a week and acropower daily. I use all for reef for element replacement. My fish are fat and healthy. I slowly raised my dkh from 8.5 to 10 over the course of about a month. I didn’t notice anything negative, but now some of the corals have slight stn at their bases. No corals have died. No burned tips. I kept using Red Sea blue bucket which has dkh of about 8 with weekly 4 gallon water changes. I’ve slowly let the dkh come down to about 9.5. Basically I did this to myself. Is there anything I can do to to help the corals out? Cut the base off?
Maybe another imbalance from use an all in on product for alk? Most colors still look great. In most corals it is just slight necrosis with retracted polyps. Also, I use ati sunpower, small fuge with sea lettuce on reverse light cycle, co2 scrubber (ph 7.8-8.3), and mp40 .
