STN overnight need help diagnosing

I actually didn't use reflux. (Maybe there's something added in the commercial one?) I used the actual med ground down to a powder. I dont run gfo, I maintain skimmer the entire time, no carbon.. as algae dies off and po4 increases, If needed I dose lanthanum into my skimmer to remove excess p04.. hope that helps you

I’ve used reef flux twice. One time went flawlessly, the other I had major issues with SPS. I don’t think I lost anything, but major color loss and some tissue necrosis.

Thanks for sharing. It would be so helpful if you could figure out what could have been different in terms of:
Water parameters and nutrients
Alkalinity
Dosing amount
Lighting
Anything?

how long between doses and was all the water changed out in between?

Unfortunately I can’t really pinpoint it. Everything was basically the same both times I used it. I did get dinos after the first time so I assumed it was at least partially because they were already there, and the algae die off let them take over. The second time I used it I only dosed like half or so the recommended dose, and it worked great. My alk is always around 8.5-9. Nitrates around five, and phosphates around .04. That’s all I ever really test for. My PH was consistently low around the first time, but I don’t think that’s really make much difference.

Which time did you lose SPS color/tissue? The first time (with dinos) or the second? Thanks.

@Zoajohn I apologize for the hijack. I'll start another separate thread and tag folks here with it.

How are you getting on? Got pics on or description on the suspected dinos? You got a lot going on I know but confirming dinos early is kinda important as they can get spooled up pretty quick without addressing them. Be grate if we could rule them out so you can focus on present matters in your tank.
