New to this hobby. Did some research and came up with stock list for my 110 gallon tank. Any advice on the list? What should I put first and Last? Any info helps! Thank you to everyone in advance.
Here is the list:
2 clowns
Royal gramma
Firefish goby
Six line wrasse
Yellow tang
Longnose hawkfish
Yellow watchman goby
Blue tang
3 cardinals (bungai)

Sounds good to me… just keep them well fed this helps keep everyone happy and not as much aggression.
I would add the six line last… others may weigh in on the rest of the list.

I would scrap the six-line and do a red-lined (aka Christmas) wrasse instead. A lot less aggressive, still very active, and still helps with pest control.

What are the dimensions of your tank? The footprint matters more than the gallons for swimming room, especially tor fish that get pretty big and are active swimmers like the blue tang.

I think most people here would say that isn’t big enough for a blue tang long term, especially if you have two tangs in the tank. I have a 48”x24” tank, with a two-spot bristletooth tang (stays about as small as any tang species) and a captive bred yellow tang. And I’m already thinking about rehoming the bristletooth after less than a month of having both of them, because they are constantly stressing each other out.

Yeah I think I might just go with the yellow tang. I know blue tangs get to like 12 inches. I added an orchid dottyback and lawnmower blenny instead of the cardinalfish

Hi, and welcome! I have a couple questions that will help myself and many other, more experienced reefers!
What are your tank dimensions?
Do you have a sump? if so, is 110g the total system volume or the display tank (DT) volume?
Is this new system already running? Or is this what you are planning on?
Sorry for the "simple" questions, but these are the building blocks to a new, thriving reef!

Tank is 48 by 18. Yes I have a sump the DT is 110 gallons, the sump is 20 gallons. I have everything running, just waiting on a piece of live rock from a friend so I can start my cycling process. And this is the list I'm planning on.

Do you have photos of your setup??

Hi there! And welcome!
Looks like your off to a good start. You have sw already in the tank so your are.most.likely already cycling. Lol.

Your protein skimmers water level needs to be turned down or raise the skimmer up a little by placing eggcrate under it.
The bubbles inside the skimmer should work their way up the neck and out into the cup. It takes time. Say 24hrs or more for it to actually accumulate enough bad stuff for it to foam over.
It takes time so set it low and wait and be patient. Than minor adjustments to get it set right.

Honestly Idk why ppl have a problem with six lines. Lol. I've never had a problem with the 3 or so I've had.

Id say no tang fish sorry. 110 is a nice tank and a great start but no tangs sorry. If the display was 150g+ yes 1 or 2 tang fish.
I'm just trying to help you being new and all. The less downfall you have and more success you see the more likely you are to stick it out with the sw tank.
D

Im not cycling the tank yet. And yes I'll turn the skimmer down. Thank you. As far as tangs go, I am going to have one yellow one.
