Looking for suggestions/problems with my stock list. I have a 130g cube, 3'Lx3'Wx2'H. Have around maybe 100 lbs of live rock with lots of open space and hiding caves. I have 6 chromis and a christmas wrasse in my tank for about 2 weeks now. Looking to take next step. Plan on having corals in future.

-Lyretail Anthias(single preferred,maybe a 3-4 if needed)

-Coral beauty Angel

-Flame angel

-Powder Blue Tang

-Blue throat Trigger

-Foxface rabbit

Am I being too ambitious for a 130g? I know some of these are cautionary with corals, but this s my ideal list. Any tips or suggestions as to what to get first, aggressiveness, or that kind of thing. Thanks

The CB and flame would fight
Tangs need at least 4’ in length IMO

Is that all Tangs? That sucks cuz thats the 1 fish I was really wanting to get lol
The only tangs I think would be ok is a kole, tomini and bristletooth.
But that is my opinion. Hopefully others will chime in

Really, most Tangs need a 6 foot tank, but a few of the smaller varieties work in a 4 foot long tank. They are open water swimmers for the most part, hence the need for the length. You might have some luck with a Tomini as they are less active (in terms of open water swimming) than most and max out at around 6 inches, or possibly a Squaretail (6.5 inches max). The trigger fish is completely out, it will be an aggressive butthole to it's tankmates in a tank with those dimensions. The foxface (even the One Spot) really should have a 4-6 foot long tank as well. For Dwarf Angels, I would ditch the flame and get a coral beauty. My Coral Beauty has been a great fish, but my former flame angel was a butthole. The Coral Beauty tends to be less aggressive to it's tankmates than the Flame and I agree that a CB and the Flame Angel would not be the best idea. Centropyge can get downright aggressive towards each other. To give you an idea, my CB has shown almost no aggression towards his tank mates, but the moment I put a mirror in the corner of the tank, here is how it responded:

It would spend long periods of time doing that. It is by far the most aggression I have seen out of it. I wish we had better news for you, but length is crucial for many larger, more active fish, hence the reason why there aren't a ton of people with larger cube tanks. I would suggest looking into getting some wrasses for your tank. There are some smaller peaceful varieties (ie Flasher Wrasses, Halichoeres) that can add a lot to that tank.

Even though it is only 3'x3' that footprint gives more swimming space than many 4' tanks. It also has a fairly open aquascape, so those factors will help out alot.

1st the bad news. Despite the openness it really is not enough space for a powder blue, they do benefit from alot of swimming space. Tang species that would work include smaller Zebrasomma species, such as the yellow or purple, or any of the Ctenochaetus species.

Dwarf angels can be territorial, however those 2 species could be kept together if added simultaneously.

Blue throat triggers are a well-behaved trigger and would be fine in that tank.

My opinion; much of it echoes others above...

The group of anthias is fine. If you would rather do a single, then that's fine too. They don't need to be in a group.

The angels: Probably ok, but it's a bit of a risk. I would add them both when smaller, and at the same time. You could consider trying to pair the same species instead too. Again, add them small and at the same time. Since this is a reef, there is a bit of a risk there too.

Tang: Powder blues are stunning, but they would benefit from more room. They "pace" and get aggressive in smaller tanks. I would get a different tang. A yellow or purple would work. A lavender would work. Any of the bristletooth (Ctenochaetus genus) would work except Chevron. The bristletooths (kole, truncated, tomini, etc) would probably be the most conservative.

Bluethroat trigger: The tank is borderline, imo. But, you did pick a smaller, mostly peaceful, mostly reef-safe one. It will probably be fine.

Foxface: They do get large, and the tank is borderline here. This one is kind of a toss-up for me. Keep in mind they do have venomous spines to use when feeling cramped/cornered.

Cool, thanks for all the responses. I think Ill go with the kole instead of a powder blue....time to get a bigger tank lol. And I think Im gonna try the 2 angels and just keep an eye on them. Ive read quite a few people have had success when adding them at the same time. They fought for a short time, and then got along. So I think Im going to go single male anthia, kole tang, CB and flame angel, and trigger. And add them in that order.
