Bristletooth Tang or a Foxface would be my suggestion, both great utility fish!

Assuming you have standard or better filtration I bet you could easily fit both

The regal and coral beauty are going to be iffy in a mixed reef. Personally, I wouldn’t risk it, getting either of those fish out of a reef tank is going to be a nightmare, I would only stock fish that are for sure reef safe.

The best chance for more tang success would be adding a genus that you don’t already have, seeing as you already have zebrasoma and a paracanthurus. That really just leaves the bristletooths and maybe acanthurus like a convict or powder. Don’t go sohal or clown though they’re very aggressive

Are you referring to the regal angel or regal tang, there are yellow belly varieties of both. And you weren’t clear that the list was fish you already have.

If a tang is what you are shooting for I think the acanthurus(sp) would be a good goal. Different body shapes is key when mixing tangs!

I like your take often Max but on the stock list in a 180 I like the Coral Beauty a lot....lots of rock to pick at and space to hide.... well known as least aggressive of dwarfs toward corals on the whole....

I think you’ll have to re home that regal, they get 1’ and active. Paracanthurus isn’t a good genus for most tanks (Anything less than 8’) long term. I would agree with the foxface and a bristletooth being the only fish related to Acanthuridae (Yes siganids and acanthuridae are related families) that could fit in there. No Acanthurus tang would be a good fit with a 1’ tang already in there. Established tangs mean you can’t have any more peaceful fish (If it was just a Bristletooth you could’ve gotten away with it).

I’d look around in different threads and see what recommendations others have been given then come up with a list of what you want and we can knock them out 1 by 1 till you end up with one or two that you want.

If you like eels a calmer more docile one might work, like maybe a golden dwarf moray.

Golden dwarfs are now unobtainable from what I know, these animals are a Hawaiian endemic (This was my dream animal to own with wrasses…) if you can get one in any way it’s best to do it by someone exiting the hobby but be fast because people will most likely swoop in and grab it quickly.

yeah I found 3 websites that had them, the were all $330-$500

When the regal starts swimming in circles in the tank, you’ll know it’s time. When they don’t act as calm swimming as normal and do just panic swim you know they’re stressed.

Last time I saw them for sale it was in the four digits (I think 3000). Nice to know the price isn’t as high anymore though!!
