Stock my 13.5 Fluval -Captive Bred only edition

So my fluval is not longer being used as a holding tank. It was originally the pitstop post quarantine before livestock was moved to my 90g. The big tank is now fully stocked and stable. I've pulled it off with almost entirely CB with only 2 out of 10 fish being WC. Time is here to put some fish in there. Currently it there are zero fish in it and only a peppermint shrimp along with pods and very ballsy bristle shrimp that have zero fear of predation and will freely roam the tank during lights ON. Its all softies with just some bam bam zoa, yellow polyps, kenya tree, xenia, and hitch hiker gorgonian; pretty high end stuff.

Let me hear what you got but I was leaning towards a gramma and a pair of YWG.

Biota eviota or trimma gobies. Love em both and very hardy and really docile. The eviota is seriously gorgeous but seriously tiny with a huge belly. Also pretty adventurous for such a small fish, it will swim to the open middle of my tank when pumps are off. Highly recommend!

A pair of orchid dottybacks and a whitespotted pygmy filefish. I couldn't find one for my Evo, so I put in a juvenile radial filefish instead -- although I have other builds in which it can go if it gets too big.

I currently have a pair of springeri dottybacks and a lemon damsel (and the filefish) in my Evo. The plan is to move the damsel when it gets too big, but all get along well at the moment.

YWG’s get too big for a 13g. Screw Court Jester gobies. I hate them, yea they have nice colours BUT there is one other fish that beats their colours in that genus, the hectors goby. Does the same as rainfordi’s do but just have much more colour. +1 on Eviota/Trimma gobies, they look beautiful amongst coral. Also a smal goby from Stonogobiops would look nice, I.E. Yasha gobies, Black Ray Shrimp gobies.

If I remember correctly, Biota have managed to CB these guys. I mean there’s hybrids of the two Koumansettas (Now three not including the hybrid)

I found an old article about ORA successfully breeding them but they don't show up for sale via ORA or Biota. As far as the YWG I'll differ to you on it but I do have a pair in my 90g and they are extremely reclusive in that tank generally staying within an inch or two of their burrow.

Why the court jester goby hate? I do know I 100% cannot sustain them on GHA in the fluval. That tank is spotless from such light feeding and some caulerpa prolifera.

I found an old article about ORA successfully breeding them but they don't show up for sale via ORA or Biota. As far as the YWG I'll differ to you on it but I do have a pair in my 90g and they are extremely reclusive in that tank generally staying within an inch or two of their burrow.

Why the court jester goby hate? I do know I 100% cannot sustain them on GHA in the fluval. That tank is spotless from such light feeding and some caulerpa prolifera.

They are supposed to eat pellets etc I saw mine shift a ton of sand. Never saw it actively go after any pellets and unfortunately it disappeared after a month or 2. It could have jumped out off the holes in my lid for the light bracket though.

I just dislike them. Many of the CB ones look deformed to me, plus my Hectors stands out SO much more than a Rainfordi ever will. I have a Max Nano (20g) with a Hectori in and no matter how far away, they’re always visible. Also hectors do MUCH better jobs are picking algae than a rainfordi does. Hectori picks on the rock and sand, I have found rainfordi to be much more of a sand softer than anything and yes in the right tank it’s a good thing but I will always prefer Hectors over Rainfords.

As you can see, the day he went in, the cyano was VERY bad. And was taking over the whole tank. Almost a month later and here’s the cyano, most of it was him. My nutrients and lighting have been much more level but I’ve only added 2 other coral since adding him.

My experience with CB Rainfordi’s has been how they are VERY hard to actually get eating. Instantly in a new tank and it like resets their diet. Whereas hectors gobies have eaten VERY quickly in a new tank.
