Hello,
I am curious as to what is necessary regarding lighting over broodstock tanks. I am in the process of putting together a plan for a LED build for my mixed reef display tank and am thinking about making some type of led bar for a future Clownfish set up that I am working on.
The Clownfish tanks will be fish only with a clay pot and I am assuming they will not need the lighting necessary on my reef tanks.
Thanks

Should be ok with just about any lighting since you are not trying to grow coral in the broodstock tanks

Unless you plan to add something like a BTA for the clowns to play with. Lighting requirement is that of their host or lack of a host.

I use LEDs over all my brood stock tanks. Theres more then enough light for the clownfish. The old notion of blasting clowns into thinking its spring/ summer simply isn't true. Enough light to support a softy tank is good enough. Plus with so many tanks it sure does cut down on the electricity bill... Yes its expensive upfront but over the long term it'll save you money.

Thanks Slayer, Yeah I think Id rather put a few extra bucks into the LED's so I can at least tell my girlfriend the electric bills are not going to go sky high ;-)
