Is anyone using or has used a stock tank for fish and frags? Ideas or pics would be great. I am currently tank less. I am going to use the stock tank to cycle my rock and sand then I will add fish and coral until I get a new tank . Any advice is appreciated

I have seen plenty of folks do this intentionally and when they were upgrading but needed the old tank out so the new could be built and plumbed etc. It's totally doable.

Would you cycle the rock and sand together or not? The reason I ask is because I will be use dead rock. I've always bought live rock when setting up tanks before.

I would just put a decent amount of sand into a container that you could set into the stock tank. Just enough to seed the rest of the sand when you go to set up the actual tank. seems like it would be a pain to put it all in there and then try to get it all out.

Yeah good point. I am just concerned with the rock leaching phosphate. I will do the sand in container .

I was planning on doing that but hearing horror stories about the brs pukani rock and going thru gfo quick. Where did you get ur rock from that you had curing? Process?

I cycled all of my rock in a 100g stock tank before turning it into my sump. See my build thread (link in my sig) for a LOT more details. :) They work great!

Dont get the pukani if you dont already have it. If you do, just go to a pool store and get some lanthanum chloride
