Over the next 2-4 months I will be upgrading to a red sea reefer 425xl from my current red sea max 130. Liveaquaria has a deal on salt and was thinking of buying a couple of boxes to fill and do water changes on new tank.
Is $50 a great deal for 205 gallon box and is this a very good salt?
If it's typical deal then I'll wait and do more research, if great deal then I'd like to jump on it.

Research wise looking for salt with slightly higher mag as I am planning to dose 2 part with DOS and will do mag by hand so thinking slightly elevated mag will mean less adjusting for me.

Seems like a good deal. Its good salt. I buy Reef Crystals and have 6 buckets on stand by when it went on sale

This brand of salt is OK, but then asking about a specific brand will net you a myriad of opinions on pros and cons. If you're curious about a specific type, then order the smallest container of it and make up a few batches and see how it goes. If all is well then stock up on it.

Pretty much every brand of salt is capable of creating and maintaining a beautiful tank.....you just have to pick one that mixes up to the numbers closest to what you want to keep.

Any input on live aquaria salt being easy to mix? And does it leave the brown crud like some of the other salts?

I selected this salt in part because of price. By signing up for their mailing list and buying during a sale or one of many other frequent promotions I've spent an average of only $38 a box, which actually quite cheap for a salt like this (cheaper than anything at my LFS).

Also, I don't have a crystal ball, but it's been on sale for 25% off for a few months so you may not need to buy right this second.

Oh, and I have no issue with the salt itself, mixes clean, tests at what it says it should.
