I have a 180 gallon Peninsula tank.. So far I have the following fish (all doing well).

Yellow Eye Kole
Sailfin Tang
Maroon Goldbar Clownfish
3 Green Chromis

Corals I have a mix of Soft corals and LPS

So Where do I go from here. Wrasse might be next.. Could try another tang.. Anyways, I'm open to suggestions.. Prefer vivid colors where I can. :)

Definitely a wrasse. Male Melanurus are absolutely stunning and will reach 6-7 inches in length when full grown so they would show up well in a 180. There are also some cool fairy wrasses. You could try another tang but mixing tangs is a bit of a gamble since they really don't like each other much. How long has the Kole and Sailfin been in there? Certain Tangs tend to be a bit more aggressive than others. Among the most aggressive (generally speaking): Purple, Yellow and Powder Blue so I would avoid them since you already have two Tangs in there.

Here is a Male Melanurus I had in my 90 and he was only about half of his full size:

adding a third Tang would be fine as long as it is from a different family like Acanthurus or body shape like Hippo or Naso.

I would add a third Tang. I've read three is better than two in the long run. If u want colour you can't beat a purple or Yellow Tang. If you want a wrasse try a bird wrasse. Colourful and vary active.

Sorry Syed, I wouldn't go with either of those tangs same family as the Sailfin.

I mean yes generally the "rule" is not to mix the same Tang genus. But if you rearrange the rock work, sump or isolate the Sailfin for a week or more, it can work. Sometimes you don't even need to do that and they'll work out a pecking order. Or for all we know the Kole will harass the new Tang regardless of the genus.

It can work. But yes if the OP doesn't want to go through the pains of Tang aggression then he can pick a different genus. Though I would avoid the powder, sohal and clown tangs.

I like the Naso tang as a 3rd... That and a wrasse would be all I think I want.. Till tank is more established, then I'll add a goby for fun...

But I like the Ideas.. :) maybe I'll have to do a second tank.. LOL

Sure, but it's also tough to beat either of them for aggression especially when mixed with other tangs.

Naso tang, or any of the beautiful wrasses out there (flasher, melanarus etc), or how about a blue throat trigger?

Mcoskers flasher wrasse, bluestreak cleaner wrasse, pintail fairy wrasse, bangaii cardinals, etc. what i like doing is going to liveaquaria or saltwaterfish.com and look at the different kinds of fish they have

You need to think about size of Naso. What size QT do you have? I tried a 5" in my 20L and died due to stress.
