Hi folks,

I'm upgrading my 20g reef to a 46g bowfront (+ ~15g sump) and need some stocking advice.

Currently have:
  • Wheeler's shrimp goby & shrimp
  • Spotted mandarin
Fish I'm considering in order of priority:
  • Red velvet fairy wrasse, C. rubrisquamis
  • Coral Beauty (may nip coral I know)
  • Pair of clownfish
  • Purple / exquisite firefish (one or a pair)
This isn't a definite list because I imagine it might be too much livestock for that size tank yes? So I'll be getting some combination of those.

My main concern is whether any of those fish might jeopardize the mandarin. He's eating frozen but I'm concerned about him being scared off by other fish. And then my next question is whether they'd all be compatible with each other.

Thanks in advance!

List looks good
I’d put the fire fish in first and do know they can be jumpers

fire fist and clown last, should be good. Make sure pods are stable through the move

Thank you both for responding and the tips!

So that's not too many fish for a 46g? I kind of expected an outcry that I was overstocking lol.

YOuR OVerSTocking!!!
The sporadic use of caps seemed more outcryee to me.
But no only joking that was just so you didn't feel Let down by your expectations not being lived up to lol

They are smallish fish though so I wouldn't say overstocked at all.

I wouldn't consider that too many fish at all. I agree firefish first, clowns/angel last.

Thanks for the tips on order. I forgot to consider that.

The wrasse wouldn't be so active as to scare the firefish or any other skittish fish would it?

I haven't kept rubrisquamis, but ive kept multiple other fairy wrasses with firefish. never been an issue for me
