Stocking advice, upgrading to a 125

Hey all,

Upgrading my 75 gallon canister filtered tank to a standard 6 foot 125 this summer, have a life reef sump and skimmer on order, with refugium, hoping to make the tank transfer come August.

Trying to plan out my tank, currently have:

2 osc clowns
1 firefish
1 Exquisite wrasse
1 Linespot wrasse
1 Royal Gramma
1 Chalk Bass
1 Tailspot blenny
1 bluestripe cleaner goby
1 juvenile Biota yellow wrasse

My tank hovers around 15 nitrate, .1 phosphate consistently, corals and dears clam all growing and doing well.

Thinking of adding:

1 convict tang
1 watchman goby/pistol shrimp
1 Leopard wrasse
1 Radiant wrasse
2 Bella gobys
Small school of lyre tail or carberryi anthias

Does this seem doable? Can I add more/should I add less? Love my corals but I'm a fish guy at heart. Figure its 2 tangs, and mostly smaller fish. Would be interested in another wrasse or 2, or a sunburst anthias.

Also I will have an empty 75 gallon that's cycled afterwards, any fun ideas? Was thinking skunk clowns and an anemone, or just putting the anthias there in their own tank.

I would only do a Convict tang in a standard 180G tank. Those guys may be small but they love to swim more than you would think.

How do you find wrasse care? Both the new species you want to add are arguably difficult. Are you able to get them from an LFS?

Interesting on the convict, he was the main reason I was looking to upgrade, that was the fish I wanted that I couldn't keep in my 75. I can look otherwise at bristeltooths for sure. My current wrasses are easy, forgot to mention I have a pink streak wrasse too. We call him bart and he just zooms around the rocks all day. The exquisite I can basically hand feed, and he splashes me whenever I open the tank. Linespot is oddly chill for a flasher, never flashes in my tank, just zooms around the top of the tank, often sitting on the hip of the exquisite at feeding time, they are buds. I was thinking marine collectors for the wrasses, pre qt is much easier for me. My LFS can order anything I want though. I knew the leopards were sensitive, but didn't know the radiants were the same!

Part of me just wants to move the current crew over to the 125 and just let them have the extra space, cause there is no aggression or anything. Everyone is super chill with each other. But another 50 gallons of space, plus a sump, figure I gotta add a few things.

You would be fine. I have a biota yellow in my tank thats the same size: i think you would be completely fine with the convict and yellow in there

You would be fine. I have a biota yellow in my tank thats the same size: i think you would be completely fine with the convict and yellow! With this size tank you could even add a bristletooth tang in the mix for algae if you want or a foxface. Or both

Makes sense. Not sure I want 3 larger bodied fish, but 2 works just fine. Think I'll stock slow and go from there.

If you end up having any questions about our yellows please don't hesitate to reach out. We may also be able to get you a captive-bred convict pending on your timetable, we just announced that success last week.

Thanks Jake @Biota_Marine . Is there a timetable on the release of the convicts? Would be cool to plan for him to be the first fish in and let him settle on his own and grow a bit before adding the others.

It'll likely be a few months before the next batch is ready they grow a bit slower than the yellows
