Hi everyone!
I have a 65g (working on being SPS dominant) tank that measures 36" wide x 18" front to back x 24" tall. I currently have a clownfish, small Kole Tang, and one azure damsel. I want to add some more fish so that my bioload is higher and to have some more activity in the tank. The tank itself is 5 years old and well-established. Open-style aquascape for swimming room with plenty of cover for fish to hide in. Here's the fish that I was looking at as possible additions:

Longnose hawkfish (definitely)
Carpenter wrasse?
Dusky wrasse?
McCosker's wrasse?
Christmas/Red Lined Flasher Wrasse?
Chalk Bass or other fish?

I was doing some research on the wrasses, and all the ones I've picked seem to be fairly peaceful with other wrasses/fish. Which of these wrasses would you recommend for my tank and its tankmates? Super excited to get into wrasses, so if you have any suggestions, I'm all ears. @saltyhog

I wouldnt do any flashers in a tank less than 4’. This is due to how much they actually swim, I have 1 in a mix of 5 other wrasses and he has to be the fastest and most active.
As for Halichoeres I’d go for the smaller of them (Radiant, Yellow “Coris”, Red Lined/Christmas, Silver Belly ect).

For other wrasses, look into;
- Macropharyngodon
- Pseudojuloides
- Cirrhilabrus
- Xenojulis

If you want a start then here’s my top 3 favourites from each of these genera;
- Macropharyngodon negrosensis
- Macropharyngodon kuiteri
- Macropharyngodon choati (Research is a must with this fish)

- Pseudojuloides severnsi
- Pseudojuloides splendens
- Pseudojuloides atavai

- Cirrhilabrus isosceles
- Cirrhilabrus roseafascia (These are rather large fish so you may want a larger tank for one)
- Cirrhilabrus naokoae

- Xenojulis margaritaceus

I recommend researching into Macropharyngodon, Xenojulis and Pseudojuloides a bit more than Cirrhilabrus as they need a sandbed but also have rather different diets as well as sometimes coming in in a bad shape.

Thank you for the advice and species list! I guess I was under the impression that I could house either the McCosker's or Carpenter wrasse because of the other recommendations online. Are these the smallest of the genus? I will look into those other species as well and see if any catch my eye/fit my tank. I'll admit I've done a lot of research on coral in the past 7 years in the hobby, but wrasses seem like an entirely new little realm to explore. It's always cool to find something new that you know nothing about! Room for learning! Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated, too.
