I have had my tank running for 5 months now and all is going well. Current stock:
4 Firefish
3 Barnacle Blennys
Shrimp Goby and Pistol shrimp buddy
Exquisite Wrasse
Solon Wrasse

Some LPS and Softies and typical CUC

I want to stay with smaller, peaceful fish. I'm thinking a trio of Pajama Cardinals and a pair of clowns.
My question is should the Cardinals or the clowns go in next?

Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

Cardinals are more peaceful than clowns, so should go in first.

In aquaria firefish are not social, so 2 will pr up and kill the others. I would advise removing some before that happens.

Thanks for the advice. I'll go with the Pajamas first.
I've had the Firefish for a few months now. Absolutely no indication of aggression but I'll watch out. Catching a couple to re-home would be extremely difficult.

Once again thanks.

Firefish aggression with conspecifics is not obvious. They will disappear gradually 1 by1 until there is only 1 or 2 left.

Although peaceful, you’ll only want a pair of cardinals, as the third wheel will get killed or seriously stressed out once a pair is established.

We saw this take place last month when my son came home with three banggai cardinals from our LFS for his FOWLR tank’s 10g QT. A pair seemed to form in a couple days, leaving the third fish all by himself in a corner. If he tried to socialize with the other two, he was chased away. By the end of a week, he was gone...crumpled up in a corner.

I do agree with the above advice, in that I would recommend placing the cardinals ahead of the clowns.

I would agree that Cardinalfish are way more peaceful than clowns. I have a Pajama in my 90 and he has never bothered anything and within a few hours of the wrasse and it meeting they understood that neither was a threat and just basically ignore each other. That said I have found Solar/Salon Wrasses to be jerks in my experience, so it will be interesting to see how yours responds to new additions. Clownfish are all territorial/semi-aggressive to an extent. occ and percula varieties tend to be better than others but they are Damsels after all. My snowflake Occ was a butthead that had to be removed (Unfortunately he contributed to the death of my Scissortail and Purple Firefish first). He tried bullying the Melanurus Wrasse and regretted it. . . .boy did he regret it. :D

Actually my Solon Wrasse was in the tank first. Added an Exquisite and he's boss now. Especially at bedtime. Otherwise they do ok.
I'll put PJs in an acclimation Bix for a few days and watch. Clowns will go later.
