First off here' my tank specks

29 gal with 10 gal sump
40 lbs live rock
Crushed coral substrate
Skimmer

1 o. Clown ( mate died in aug after 4 years)
1 disappearing fairy wrasse

Now my issue is my yellow coris whom was in tank prior to the other wrasse someone escaped and fell to floor and was found to late (I have since fixed small hole)
Now I added another coris 12 days ago, hasn' been seen since so he most likely didn' make it or got killed. I know they can hide for a bit but almost 2 weeks without eating or coming out even with lights off is disheartening. So I bought a swalesi basslett..... after acclamation the wrasse was picking on him but I didn' think much of it... but within 2 hours the basslet was on the bottom of tank missing scales and a fin so I'm positive it was the wrasse. Unfortunately I had to euthanize him so he would not suffer. I really want one more fish but not sure what I could get or how I can prevent this from happening again. I dont really want to get rid of wrasse cause him and the clown are buddies. Any suggestions?

Well you should first QT your fish before dumping it in that tank to ensure you have a healthy, eating, disease free fish.

Next, you should do some research on your own and find out what types of fish are compatible with the ones already established in your tank.

Third, if your going to ask for input on fish recommendations you should be more thorough on what kind of tank you have and what kind of fish you want. Do you have a reef or is it FOWLR? Do you want an open water active fish, a colorful fish, a peaceful fish, etc...

Sorry thought I put that it was a reef, lps and softies. Looking for open water swimmers. Researching to no avail and both I got were supposedly conpatible.

also I did qt each they were eating and no sign of disease, sorry for leaving that out as well. It'. Late here LOL. I have been researching for a bit myself bfore reaching out :)

I'd recommend a fish that has a different body shape/pattern compared to the wrasse. Some fish can get very aggressive to similar looking tankmates (they view them as a food competitor).
