Ok. I know there are tons of fish that would be good for a 75 gallon. I'm just having trouble picking some!

Tank is 75 gallon with a trigger systems sump. I think the 34, not sure off the top of my head.

I don't have a ton of rock and a not very deep sand bed. So I think that removes a lot of wrasses.

My current stock is:
Yellow Tang
2x clownfish

I'm thinking of adding a one spot foxface, but I hear it may or may not get too big. And then I'd like either coral beauty or flame angel.

My original thinking was stocking with a few larger fish instead of many smaller ones, but I'm open to ideas.

I don't seem to have issues keeping fish alive. That said, I tend to be away for week at a time in the spring/summer. So anything I add to the tank would need to be able to survive with flake/pellets from an auto feeder for at least a week.

Not sure if it matters, but all fish will have to be shipped as there isn't much available locally.

is this a fowler or are you going to add coral? I noticed you have a sandbed so I'd recommend a wrasse or 2. There are lots of different kinds to choose from. Live aquaria usually will tell how big of a tank you need. Also if you get a Copapod population rolling you'll have some cool choices.

I do like the long nose hawk! Definitely a cool looking fish. I will put that on the list.

I'm leaning toward a coral beauty over the flame angel. I think the flame angel looks better, but I can get a captive bread coral beauty.

I'm drawn to the tangs and angels, but unfortunately my tank isn't big enough.

I was looking through live aquaria and some of the dottybacks caught my eye, but I hear they can be quite aggressive? Anyone have any experience with them?

The harlequin bass looks like a cool fish. Liveaquaria says they get to 11", but the site I order fish from says 4" seems like a big difference in size!

Orchid (Pseudochromis fridmani) is in a league of it's own in term of being pretty peaceful. There are a few others that aren't terrible. Most are pretty darn aggressive and actually fit in better with large tankmates like tangs, angels, triggers, etc.

Bigger than 4. The one I was around was probably more like 6+". It was in either a 125 or 180 with a trigger, grouper, and butterfly. 11" is probably the world record. I would choose something else for a 75, like chalk bass for example.

The orchid dottybacks are nice looking. Good to know they aren't aggressive or as aggressive.

Ok. Definitely skip the harlequin bass.

I was reading about fairy and flasher wrasses. They don't sleep in the sand so those might be options as well. The McCosker's Flasher Wrasse looks quite nice.

Any Cirrhilabrus or Paracheilinus wrasse, colour and activity. I recommend against things like Macropharyngodon, anampses and Halichoeres since the sand bed looks too shallow for these guys.
Most of the hawkfish as said above - Longnose and Flame, avoid the yellows (They get big).
Just avoid any goby and Blenny (My personal favourites are Gobiodon astrangulatus and Escenius lineatus).

Ya definitely no sand sleeping wrasses.

Good to know about the goby and blenny.

Of the wrasses that seem to be readily available to me I like:
McCosker's flasher wrasse
Carpenter's flasher wrasse
Exquisite fairy wrasse

Would 3 wrasses be too many or should I stick to one flasher and one fairy?

My stock list would be:
yellow tang
2x clownfish(just little guys right now)
long nose hawk
coral beauty
McCosker's flasher wrasse
Carpenter's flasher wrasse
Exquisite fairy wrasse

Seems like a bit on the high side for stocking.

To me, that is alright - Just try add the two flashers at the same time. And for maximum colour I’d try and get a vanuatu variant of the exquisite fairy wrasse. Since that’s 7 fish that max out at 4” and 1 that will get to about 6” that’s it maxed out. The tang may want a 4’ tank by the end of it though (And that’s minimum in most cases) so I would probably go for another fairy wrasse instead but that’s just me being picky.
