So my fiancé and I got into the hobby by accident. I have learned so much along the way about what to do and a lot of what NOT to do. Throughout this journey, however, I have developed a fascination and addiction to maintaining my 40g breeder and she sees me spending money like it's going out of style. She enjoys the fish and likes to feed our clowns by hand but other than that it has become my sole project.
Our current short stocking list for our40 g breeeder FOWLR tank is:
1 black/white misbar ocellaris
1 snowflake ocellaris
1 6 line wrasse
1 fire fish goby
4 very large thin tripe hermit crabs (from the coast of Florida brought to Wyoming by accident and the reason I have been thrown into the hobby)
I am currently Running a Fluval Tidal 75 power filter, Aqueon Quietflow 30, and a Aqueon Quietflow internal submersible filter, about 50 lbs of live rock, 40lbs of live sand and plenty of filter media.
I have added these 4 fish over the course of the last month and a half and have not had a spike in ammonia or nitrites. I currently have readings of 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 10 nitrate, salinity 1.025.
I am battling the fiancé because I would like to add more to the tank. She says we don't need any more fish but I would like to add more if possible. The only thing I can find that would be able to co-inhabit the tank with what is already in there is blue/green chromis or a royal gamma...
My concerns/questions would be what else would be available to stock my tank with that would be safe for all the other tankmates and roughly how many more additions could I make before I were to overload the bio filter? Also, I would like some ideas on a CUC that my large crabs wouldn't kill/eat or vice versa. I don't have the current means of adding a sump or anything like that... what I have is all that I can stick with until we move to a place where I have a better spot to place a larger tank. Any thoughts or concerns would be greatly appreciated.
