Hi all!

so I’m going through my first ever cycle and I’ve realised I’m really not that interested in coral at all, I might be down the track but for now, no interest.

I really love the Goby species and am set on a yellow clown goby, but everything else is up for consideration. Can anyone give me some stocking ideas for a 25 gal peninsula?

I also would love a sexy shrimp :)

I may get some softies just to cover the scape unless anyone else has any ideas?

thanks in advance

Instead of the yellow clown gobby I would do the watchman gobby because you can pair him with a pistol shrimp Which is really fascinating!! As far as anything else you can never go wrong with a pair of clownfish or some damsels. Trust me when I say once you start keeping corals you will never want to do an all fish aquarium every again lol!!!

I will be getting a watchman goby but my first fish I want a clown goby. Definitely don’t want damsels as they are pests.

I want a fowlr tank hence why I posted on the fowlr forum lol

You will not be able to keep two types of gobies in that size aquarium, they will show aggression towards each other and it will not end up in a good situation. You can do maybe two firefish or even a lawnmower blenny!

a clown goby and a sand sifting goby will prob get along fine. id get a bunch of sexy shrimp, they look much cooler in small groups and are tiny. Unfortunately a tang wiped out my entire population overnight :(

In my 25 I have a bunch of fish but I have a bunch of coral. I always try to stock to niche so maybe consider that.

Sand/hole- YWG/Pistol
Cave - Captive Royal Gramma
Ledge - Chalk Bass
Shadow Cruiser - Possum Wrasse
Open water - Flasher Wrasse
Percher - Neon Goby
Sand cleaner - Captive Court Jester

As corals grow out and reshape the tank, the fish really do interact with them and so do the inverts (like sexy shrimp) so I encourage you to at least get some easy ones.

Ahh you poor thing! I’d be more than happy to get a group of sexy shrimp! I’m just concerned about other fish eating them? What species will be ok around shrimp?

I’ve found pretty much any larger fish is gonna find them too tasty to resist, herbivore or not

they were fine with gobies/clowns though. I’m waiting until I see them on sale for 13-15$ again to restock. IMO 20$+ for one is just too much

Your lucky. Sexy shrimp in Australia are expensive so if any fish I get is going to eat them well I’ll leave that one alone haha

Those two will fight. I think the watchman is a risk with sexies as their mouth is pretty big for their size. So I'd stick to the clown goby. In that tank you could consider a springeri damsel. Stays small and very pretty blue color.

Thanks mate. Yeah that’s what I was thinking esp if I wanted some shrimp :(
Is this type of damsel ok is it?

I also would like 1 peaceful larger fish as a bit of a centrepiece fish?

I wouldn't put anything larger in that tank. Springer's damsels are peaceful though.

Baby six line. He will calmly and silently keed all those 25 gallon fishies in check. Without doing any damage.

I would get a pink streaked. Just as pretty, swims similarly, but has a little tiny mandarin like mouth and couldn't harm a fly.
