Stocking Ideas for 30 gallon cube tank with sump?

Hi all,

I recently bought a Cade 500 and looking for stocking ideas.

I am not a massive fan of clownfish and would love a variety of species if I can.

The tank itself is 30.6gal of display. its a cube

and it has a sump as well.

I do want a firefish and potentially a yellow clown goby jsut not sure what else i should look at?

Look into a diamond goby I love my little guy. Just make sure you supplementally feed meaty foods.

You could try a dwarf angelfish species like a Rock Beauty, Coral Beauty, Flame Angel, Cherub Angel, and others like them ive had some of them species in a 26 gallon bowfront before and all did fine. Just take caution doing an angel in a tank that size if you plan on stocking corals in the tank because the chance of them eating your corals are super high in a tank like that. Royal Gramma is another good one. I would look into dart fish like the red, purple, and helfrichi dart fish they are so awesome make sure you have a lid with no space even around overflow because they will find a way to jump out trust me it happend to me a lot. Diamond watchman would be a sweet addition to the tank and they are a utilitarian fish that will clean your sand bed for you by sifting through it and eating waste detritus and leftover food. A blenny is also a must something like a tailspot blenny would be sweet as well and they are also a utilitarian fish because they will graze on algae all day. If i was to suggest this is kinda what my stocking list would be
2 Red Dartfish
1 purple Dartfish
1 Helfrichi Dartfish
1 Flame Angel
1 Tailspot Blenny
1 Diamond Watchman Goby
1 pearly Jawfish
1 Royal Gramma
1 Solar Fairy Wrasse
That would be the perfect stocking plan for a 30 gallon cube good amount of movement a lot of different colors and there is still a lot of swimming space because there is only two mid to top water swimming fish all the rest hang out bottom half.

Im also not sure how much experience you do have in this hobby but i would highly stress the point of putting your livestock into a food grade bucket or similar food grade container and drip acclimate them when you get them to make sure they transition well into your aquarium conditions do a 30 minute drip for fish and 15 minute drip for inverts.

here's my 2 cents after research. I go with all peaceful temperment type.

Purple Firefish
Yellow banded possum wrasse
Yellow Watchman Goby
bangaii cardinalfish
blue green chromis
yellow candy hogfish
Starck's Damsel
Pajama cardinalfish

Are you suggesting ALL those fish for the same 30 gallon tank? Seems like it would be a bit overstocked with half of those getting 4 inches or more at maturity.

I'd go with 4 or 5 off that list.

I even kept a one spot Foxface tomini and a scopas in the same said tank at the same time and they did fine i did upgrade them into a 75 after about a year but they did fine in a 26 for that amount of time

For how many years? Did all the fish grow to maximum size? In your next post you said you upgraded within a year. I never assumed the Op is planning an upgrade and give reasonable stocking advice. I see way too many posts of new hobbyists having various problems when they overfill....safer to add a few fish and see how it works out.

Agree, 4-5-6 fishes is the right number for a 30 gallon tank.

I see way too many posts of new hobbyists having various problems when they overfill....safer to add a few fish and see how it works out.

I'm glad you posted a pic of your 26, it strengthens my suggestion. I can't see half the fish you say are there so they must still be very small. I can tell the coral beauty isn't full grown and the Gramma could put on another inch.

Tailspot, yellow watchman/tiger pistol shrimp to start. I'd probably avoid the damsel and get a pink fairy wrasse instead. Jmo

Ive had those fish together until they got full size in the 26 and had no problems other than the coral Beauty wanting to munch on my sps corals. I would say that there is no harm and seeing what those fish do together and if they show no signs of stress from being together in an aquarium of that size and your filtration is good and there all active healthy and have good appetites then you can successfully keep them in that aquarium.
