Hi there!

Starting to get to a place with my 70G that I am thinking about stocking. We mainly keep freshwater but we inherited a reef tank a few years ago that was already stocked. Kept it for a while before dismantling and starting this 70G build. So not sure about saltwater stocking. Here's a list of fish we like, would love your suggestions of things we could use together in a 70G. Open to suggestions of other fish based on these suggestions.

My husband likes Banggai cardinals, clownfish and dwarf fuzzy lion fish.
I really like the symbiotic relationship stuff like gobies and shrimp, clownfish and anemone. Blennies are pretty cool too. I have a massive soft spot for puffers so would love one if it fits (currently keep a couple of kinds of freshwater puffers).

We plan on having some corals (soft, LPS), but all this will be done very slowly. If the advice is "get this fish, wait for it to be full size before adding this other fish", I'm OK with that.

Thanks for your help!

most of the stocking seems okay, however I’m not too familiar with dwarf lions, 90% of puffers will eat coral, the few types that MIGHT not are
Blue spot
Valentini
Cow fish
box fish
And Valentini and blue spots and box fish are the only ones that will fit in a 70g

so the fish you want are (if going with coral)
Clownfish
Blenny eg starry or bicolour
Cardinals
Goby and shrimp
maybe lionfish
Maybe pufferfish

The lionfish might also go after the shrimp but I’m not too good with them as I said earlier

other fish that might help or be nice are
Bristletooth / kole tang
Wrasse (heaps to choose from, some safe some not)
A dwarf angelfish would be nice, maybe two but they may go after coral depends on your luck

how long is your tank? You might be able to do a yellow tang?

Wow that's amazing, thank you. I prefer the look of the blue spotted puffer. I know puffers are a bit funny. I have some alleged shrimp eaters, living nicely with shrimp. I guess that happens with fish with personalities.

I'm not as impressed by tangs, but I'll have a look into some wrasse and angelfish. Thanks
