So I have begun stocking. I am going on month 4 of my tank and I am having a blast thus far. I have a fire fish, Hifin Goby, candy cane pistol shrimp (That I cant find), cleaner shrimp, black sailfin blenny, melanarus wrasse, 2 phantom clownfish, and thats it. I am looking for stocking ideas. I have a 135gallon oceanic DT, with good equipment and a nice scape with lots of caves. I know I want to add a starry blenny in here but I am looking for other ideas. I do not know many other attractive "Reef safe" fish so help me identify my options please.

My last two to add will be a Purple Tang, and Yellow Tang (together). Thoughts?

i personally love flame hawkfish, wrasse and anthias. possible issues with those two tangs those. not a lot of territory for both of those.

Any type of hawkfish! If kept well fed they are awsome reef safe fish. I personally love the flame hawks but there are many different types. There's even a really cool yellow variety.
Pics of tank by any chance?

Mixing a starry and black fin blenny is a risk. Your tank MAY be big enough but be prepared for a possible problem.

The pistol shrimp will most likely be heard before it’s seen.

If you add those 2 tangs they need to be added at the same time. However I would vote no on those 2 together in that size tank.

A trio of azure damsels, zebra or scissor tail dartfish, and red lined cardinals would provide nice activity and interaction throughout the tank.

Thanks for advice

The dartfish and damsels are beautiful but rather small I would be nervous about seeing them. What about numbers? How many fish is a good amount for a 135 gallon tank?

My damsels and dartfish are out and about 100% of the time.

I have 20 fish in a 108 gallon but most will stay under 4” when grown.

When they are all full grown the will total 68”.

I plan on adding more and they will be smaller fish.

You really can’t pinpoint a number as it depends on the waste created, temperament, compatibility, etc.

For example, I have 3 zebra darts totaling 12” of length. A single 4” tang will produce more waste than the 3 dartfish.

It’s not easy to choose, but it pays off down the road!

I would add a midas blenny, captive orchid dottyback. A jawfish is a fun addition, I have a black cap and he’s cool but does steal frags. Diamond goby help clean the sand up. Dustin
