I have a 105.4 gallon waterbox frag tank, 72 gallon display 4 feet long. I need some help on stocking ideas, I will be getting a foxface one day because that was one of the main reasons I got this tank but I know they like to have other fish in there first. I currently have 2 clowns but am not sure what to add now. I also plan on getting a tang and a dwarf angel (as long as they can all go together I haven’t googled much about it) but they will be last because of aggression. I want to add the peaceful fish first but can’t find which ones would be best with a new tank. Any help is appreciated!

I think thats a good plan, for tangs looks into any of the Zebrasoma or bristletooth tangs like the tomini. Should be able to fit in that tank. I would stick the the clown, one small tang, foxface, dwarf angel, and than maybe 1-2 smaller fish like a gobies or wrasses. Obviously you can go higher stocking with more smaller fish if you do enough maintenance and have a good filtration unit. Also are you doing a reef or FOWLR?

Liveaquaria has a good chart for fish temperament towards other species. Not perfect but very good overall. Just pick any random saltwater fish and see the chart as you scroll down.

Incorporate the couple big fish you want and then go for a lot of small colorful fish to make your reef come alive. I have 10 now in my 65g DT with 15g sump and no aggression problems with beautiful colors swimming all day.

Do you ultimately want mixed reef or Fish only
How much rock do you plan on placing in tank ?

A flame angel will work
Tomini, kole eye tang will work.

It’s a reef tank, mostly lps and some zoas. Maybe sps in the future. I was looking at the Midas blenny or a six line wrasse but I read they can be quite aggressive. I do weekly water changes but don’t want to overload my tank

Good to know, thanks!

I really like the colour of some of the wrasses, they really stand out

It’s a mixed reef and I have about 40-50 pounds of rock in there. I’m guessing it’s too small of a tank for a yellow or blue tang?

No= you can. I did not list due to temperament but not bad compared to many other tangs

I like the yellow but their crazy expensive I find and I have read that the blue tang can be a bully, the bristletooth tangs are very nice too. Difficult choice, wish I could have all 3! Lol

I have a yellow coris wrasse, a rohmboid, a pintail fairy, 6 line and blue streak cleaner. No aggression problems past 8 months.

Glad to hear that, I’ll look into them more now. Any experience with anthias?

Not really but from what I've read schools are better on larger tanks. If I was looking like you are I'd be focused on color variety and open swimmers. Wrasses swim all day, indigo dottyback, purple fire fish, fangtooth blenny, flame angel, etc...
