Hello I'm fairly new and have just started look at equipment and lighting for my soon to be tank. Its a 220g double corner flow system with a 125g sump. Now the list of fish that i have got are just looking on the internet and the LFS and thought were sweet. The list is
Black & white ocellaris clowns, gold stripe maroon clowns, flame angel, copper band butterflyfish, orchird dotty back, springeri dotty back, green mandarin, flame hawkfish, yellow tang, chevron tang, a chillies tang, harlequin tusk, and some big angelfish. Now i want an eel of some sort and she wants a golden puffer. Are either or any of these are going to have problems? Since I'm fairly new have been reading books and hitting
forums I have seen different fish. Is there any that are better for beginners, are personal favorites, have a lot of character, or more colorful? I am willing to listen and head warnings on whatever is brought up. I will be having a FOWLR tank due to the types of fish I like due to not be reef friendly. Also I would like to have anemone for the clowns if possible. Please any help is appreciated just kinda want to get all information before I dive into this head first.

O and do you recommend getting them online or have the LFS order them in and pick them up there?

A few thoughts on some of the fish on your list .....if you decide on having some clowns in the tank, I would pick either the oscellaris or maroon clowns but not both, the maroons can be rather aggressive and will more than likely pick on the oscellaris - they might be okay in a tank your size, I really don't know but I would be hesitant. I would not even think about a mandarin until the tank is mature - they typically don't take prepared foods and the tank will need to support them with enough live food - and that will take some time - and depending upon what other fish you have in there to deplete the pod population it still may not be enough. Of the tangs, I would suggest getting some experience before attempting an achilles tang also, they can be one of the more difficult tangs. Some of the angels can also be a bit more on the difficult side too so do your research first!

I would also suggest waiting until your tank is mature and stable and you are sure you're able to keep the parameters in check before adding an anemone - they often do not do well at all in a young tank.

If I were you I would start with whatever is your "must have" ....sounds like an eel and a golden puffer .... and then research what will cohabitate best with them from your remaining list and go from there making your stocking decisions.

On your current list I only have a couple of the fish - but I will say that I absolutely love my pair of flame hawkfish. Good splash of color and great personalities!

I strongly recommend quarantining all new additions prior to adding them to the DT. I agree with only adding one type of clowns. Maroon clowns can be especially nasty. I would also encourage you to find the must have fish that you would like and go from there.

I totally agree with what has been said above, the maroons will take out the other clowns possibly causing an Ich outbreak from the stress. Better to be safe than sorry.

+1 on clowns and as far as Achilles and butterfly they are both pretty hard to keep in captivity. I'd recommend some easier fish to begin.
