I'm sure a lot of people setting up new tanks or who are having issues would love to hear from experienced long term saltwater keepers, so I'm starting this thread. In order to help the people answering you please give your tank size and filtration info as well as anything that may be of special consideration ( such as ornamental live plants/macro algae being grown in tank, lots of copepods in tank, types of corals in tanks or wanted, aquarium additives used, pests in the tank, etc). You can also mention if you like a certain type of fish (tangs, angels, gobies, etc) or colors.

So I will start:
I have a 29G standard aquarium with T5 blue actinic lighting and an Aquaclear 70 hang off the back filter. Black sand, live rock caves/arches, refugium of cheato algae and ornamental macro algae grown in tank (just Dragon's Tongue at this time but want more). I have been aquarium keeping for 10yrs and have worked with some more touchy and exotic fish, but am for the first time adventuring into the saltwater side of the hobby. I am looking to stock my tank with some bright, multicolored fish with at least 1 maybe posing slight more of a keeping challenge than a hardy, common, beginners fish. After some research below is my proposed consideration for stocking my tank once it has finished cycling. Some switch out suggestions and suggestions on what order to add these is appreciated.
1. Ocelaris Clownfish
1. Clown Goby
1. Six-Line Wrasse (preferred but I understand there may be aggression issues so feedback plz) or Strawberry Dobbyback
1. Pygmy Angelfish of some sort (thinking Coral Beauty, Half Black, Mulitcolored, or Eilibi)
Then for clean up crew an Emerald Crab, 2-3 Nerite snails if I find I have unwanted algae growing down the road, perhaps a sand sifting species of goby since it's the only appropriate size sand mixing option for my tank, and considering some peppermint or banded coral shrimps if you think their cleaning abilities would be handy

Both sixlines and strawberry dottybacks can be pretty territorial. A pink streak wrasse or orchid dottyback will be more peaceful options.
Adding the goby toward the beginning of stocking is best, the angel and dottyback toward the end.
Drop the sixline. It will be the devil in a smaller tank like yours. Also IMO your tank is too small for any type of angel. Consider a Royal Gramma instead of a dottyback. Their "aggressive" behavior rarely goes beyond gaping at other fish. Bicolor blenny is a very interesting fish I would also recommend and a very easy fish to get to thrive. It's not the most colorful fish but I find them quite beautiful and their behavior and boldness will make you fall in love with it. I generally stay away from damsel fish, but there are two that I think are relatively peaceful and can do well in a smaller community type tank. Talbot's and Allan's damsel. The Allan's damsel can be quite timid and change color when frightened or stressed. It does however need some sand to thrive. Talbot's on the other hand is very easy. I would also consider switching the clown goby for a neon goby. Fire fish are great additions as well, but they are expert jumpers so make sure your tank is covered
