Hello everyone I'm a newbie with a brand new build it's an 80 gallon Peninsula dimensions are 48 in Long 20 in deep 20 in tall and I need help on what livestock
The system will have a sand bed and Marcos rock with lots of hiding places in the Aquascape it also will have a refugium

My goal is to have fish Coral shrimp snails crabs

As of right now the fish that I want to put in the tank are as follows
Spotcinctus (Amphiprion bicinctus) clowns a pair
Naoko's Wrasse - Cirrhilabrus naokoae
Down the road when the Tank's ready a pair of mandarins

I know it's not a very extensive list but that's where you guys come in

Need utilitarian fish that would fit nicely with my short list I would really love to get a Tang which one's should I look at
Tank is too small for most of them

gobies that get along and won't out compete the mandarins
when they're eventually in the tank

other wrasses that are compatible with Naoko

and any other suggestions you guys might have

Thank you all in advance for your valuable

Tomini tang is really going to be your only option.

Wheeler goby would be a good one, especially with a tiger shrimp (very entertaining).

If adding Mandarins, I personally wouldn’t add anything more to the tank and certainly not a wrasse that eats a lot of pods (Melanurus).

That is the Tang I was thinking about I love its orange fins when it's an adult

I like the idea of the symbiotic relationship with the shrimp thank you for the suggestion I will start my research on that

I recommend looking into these genera for the wrasses, then find a list of the ones you love and then we can sort through them with which ones should be alright with the naoko:
Cirrhilabrus
Paracheilinus
Halichoeres
Macropharyngodon
Anampses
Pseudojuloides
Xenojulis

Remember:
Wrasses can wait until they’re fed next, they won’t decimate a tank of pods whereas a mandarin can. Halichoeres (Melanurus) don’t eat many copepods, most of the time they’re hunting round for Amphipods, Flatworms, “Pest” snails/crabs ect…

As for gobies, there are many that are compatible. It depends what you want, do you want several different species of gobies?
If so then look into the genera of Eviota and Trimma. These are communal in small groups of 3-5, so you could get 3-5 of one species and 3-5 of another species.

I would also recommend a Pistol/Goby pair however, don’t just go for a Tiger pistol and look into the other species of Alpheus, for example the Randall’s Pistol is a beautiful species.
The genera I recommend looking into for peaceful gobies that pair with shrimp are;
Stonogobiops
Amblyeleotris

Tangs, I agree with the above in Ctenochaetus working. Avoid C. striatus and C. hawaiiensis though. I personally have C. binotatus in my 4’x2’x18” tank and the colours they go through in just a day are stunning!

Any Ctenochaetus tang except for the striated and chevron would work well, or a scopas/yellow tang.

+1 on the Wheelers.

I wouldn't suggest any more pod eaters if you have a mandarin, but a fairy or flasher wrasse would work well.
I personally disagree on Scopas/yellow tangs working, they will get more aggressive in that tank and Scopas tangs are one of the worst of that genus I’ve worked with in terms of aggression.

Thank you for the information you've given me a lot to study exactly what I was looking for
I'll start sorting through to find my preferences and I will get back to you

One of the things that I am worried about it is Tang aggression thank you for your experience and your input

Also, if you can’t tell, I’m a huge C. naokoae lover. This is my guy in my 4’ tank, the colours on this guy pop when next to my H. iridis (The species beneath him in this photo).

It’s alright! Ctenochaetus is definitely the go to genus of tangs if you want to avoid aggression. My guy was one of the first in the tank and I’ve managed to add fish into the tank without him caring. They really couldn’t care less about being the king/queen of the tank and does such a good job at cleaning.

It's a very compelling Wrasse both color and Antics from what I found about it online thank you for all your help
