So I’m at the point where I can start introducing fish to my standard 90.....will be mixed reef. Here is my list. What do you suggest as a stocking order? TIA.
2 clowns.....either TPs or Ocellaris
1 Royal Gramma
1 Flasher Wrasse....maybe Caprenters
2 Bangai Cardinals
1 Flame Angel
1 eventually Mandarin

Looks good to me. I would definitely get a tang in there early though. Algae control.

Stocking list looks reasonable to me, and the order you have is okay.

Personally, I would add the wrasse first. Wait to add both the angel and mandarin close to the 1 year mark, as they need established tanks.

Agree with the angel and Mandarin needing more established tanks. Mandarins need pods and angels need algae to graze on for optimal health.

But then..... adding an Angel is so tempting to me and darn it I haven’t even started my tank (screw the coronavirus).

About the Tang, I’m maybe leaning towards the cautious side but maybe people who’ve Kept tangs can weigh in on whether a tang, even a smaller one like a Kole Eye, can be healthy and happy in a 90 gal.

So....the wrasse before the clowns? I know the mandarin will be last.

Yeah....I know. I had a Coral Beauty years ago that was a model citizen. I’m hoping the Flame Angel would be the same.

So choosing what to add 1st....wrasse, clowns, gramma, or cardinals?

Flasher flashes at each other. One wrasse and you just see a dull wrasse, two or more will result in beautiful display.
One of each species, not two since they will fight a lot if theya re of the same species.

So one by itself won’t display? What all are the ones in your pics?

Any other thoughts on list or order......also the addition of either a kole or tomini tang to the list?

If your tank is 4 foot long a Kole or Tomini COULD work though IMO long term they’d do better in a tank that’s 5 foot long and at least 120 gallons. I’m gonna have to agree with the Tang police here. Tangs are very active swimmers, a big bioload fish that use up lots of room.

Here’s what I’d do:

First, put in either the clowns (True Perculas and Ocellaris aren’t too bad compared to their cousins of the Tomato, Clarkii, and Saddleback complexes) or the pair of Flasher Wrasses as @OrionN has suggested.

(Either Wrasses, then Clowns, or vice versa).

Then, do the Royal Gramma.

Then, the Bangaii Cardinals.

Then, the Flame Angel or Flame Angel and the Tang together.)

(At this point if you want to add a Tang, add it after the Flame Angel or with the Flame Angel).

Finally, add the Mandarin.

Feel free to critique me.
