Hi all,

I am looking to set up my reefer 250 soon that I bought in the spring. (Moving to a new house in January that’s why I’ve been waiting).

i was hoping to get some ideas on what I should stock it with.

not sure if I’m going bare bottom or not. (Seen pros and cons to both).

I know I either want a flame hawk fish pair or clownfish pair. (Not sure if I can have both?) and if I go sand I would want a melanarus.

not sure what else I would Want go with? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I’m following as love RSR250 build advice.

what types of corals are you planning? I’ve heard some say hawk fish is ok but usually listed as not reef safe. I wanted one but stayed away just for that reason.

One suggestion could be a royal gramma?
Midas blenny? Both good with or without sand and also add some color and good for that size tank for sure.

I want to get a variety of corals minus sps. Easy to keep and some moderate to keep.

I have read that hawkfish (flame, I believe) are reef safe and just perch on corals, not eat them. I don’t think I want to keep any shrimp
Or hermits so that wouldn’t be a concern for them...if I did want to, I would revert back to the clownfish pair. I am considering a yellow watchman goby if I get sand.

I do like royal grammas and had one in the past. I love the way they swim and nice colors. Had bad luck with a blenny before so I won’t get one of those.

so I’m either thinking right now so far

w/sand

clownfish pair or flame hawkfish pair
Yellow watchman goby
Royal gramma

w/out

either pair
Royal gramma
