Hello

Question:
Is it possible to add a VERY small yellow tang to my tank and if so, how small do they come? I realize I will have to eventually bring it to my local fish store, but want it to add color and motion to my tank. Also, I feel it will be a little more substantive as most of the fish I have are pretty small. Possibly also a yellow Coris Wrasse to finish off the fish stock. THOUGHTS?

History:
I used to be really into corals and fish but after getting married was not able to pursue my hobby. For the last 2 years I have had two tank raised percula's in a little 2 gallon picture frame tank and they have done great. Now that my daughter is 5 my wife has given me the go ahead to get a bigger tank, but still smaller one.

My set up:
28 gallon jbj intermediate (led's)
20 lbs live sand
20 lbs live rock
jbj inline uv
aquamaxx HOB skimmer

Current Stock:
2 small tank raised percula's
2 neon goby's
1 leopard wrasse
1 small orchid dotty back
1 small yellow tail damsel (the more peaceful one)
1 fire fish

My wife and daughter want mainly fish but I will most likely add some coral as that is what I like the best. My wife stated the tank is nice, but all the fish are tiny and she wants more pops of color.

Hello abirozy, welcome to R2R,
The fish you have must look nice with all of the contrasting colors,
You could probably get away with it if it was a juvenile Yellow Tang but it might get picked on a bit by the Damsel, Tangs need a lot of lateral swimming space to really thrive though so since your ssking for opinions I think it is a bad idea, Tangs can also be stressed relatively easily by confined spaces. Given the number of fish you already have and the species and the size of your tank I also doubt a Yellow Tang of any size would have an ideal place behind the rockwork to even sleep at night.
So I'm sorry to say in my opinion, since your fielding the question, it would not be in the best interest of the Tang, If you removed a few fish it might be doable, But my advice is to not add one.
