I have a 150 gallon deep dimension tank with the following stock:
  • Salarias ramosus-starry blenny
  • Acreichthys tomentosus-matted filefish
  • Ctenochaetus strigosus-yellow eye kole tang
  • Elacatinus macrodon-tiger goby
  • Zebrasoma flavescens-yellow tang
  • Lysmata ambionensis-scarlet cleaner shrimp
  • Lysmata wurdemanni-peppermint shrimp
  • Assortment of emerald crabs, snails, and conchs.
  • SPS, LPS, shrooms
I'd like to add in an assortment of gobies, a couple small blennies, a pair of clowns and a few small open water swimmers as far as fish go. I plan on having primarily SPS, a clam or a few, and possibly an anemone if space allows.

I've liked the look of triggers and would like to consider adding a blue throat. What sort of experiences have you folks had? Is this a fish that I can work in safely? I really enjoy shrimp and don't feel like feeding $35 snacks..

Thanks for the input!

I have one in my reef, they are very docile triggers, it won't bother a thing.

How old was he when you got him? And how old is he now? I hear they get mean as they get older and will eat your small fish and attack snails. What's your experience?

Not sure how old he is but I got him around 8 months ago and he is around 3 inches long, I got him at the same time with my niger trigger. A couple weeks ago I also added a sargassum trigger. None of them even look at my crabs, snails, corals and even a couple clams.

I read that if you feed a lot and often they are not hungry so they don't hunt for shrimp and crabs
