Hi All,

This is a my first dive into a reef tank coming from a freshwater planted tank.

I am looking for your input on the stocking plan below, if you like you can follow my build here https://www.reef2reef.com/forums/member-tanks/146971-austins-build.html#post1711161

My stocking plan is listed below and would like to hear your guys input on the list, and any changes you would make, what works what doesn’t etc etc.

Total system volume is just under 100 gallon, main tank will be 40x24x18 with lots of open space, as for corals will be zoa's, mushrooms, softies, lps and maybe some sps down the road

Fish Stocking List

2 x Black & White Ocellaris Clownfish - Tank-Bred (Amphiprion ocellaris var.)
or
2 x Amphiprion Percula (True Percula Clownfish)

1 x Paracheilinus carpenteri (Carpenter's Flasher Wrasse)
1 x Paracheilinus cyaneus (Blue Flasher Wrasse)

1 x Pseudanthias bartlettorum (bartletts anthias)
1 x Pseudanthias rubrizontaus (Tricolor, redbelted anthias)

Depending on available stock 1 of the below
1 x Ctenochaetus Flavicauda (White Tail Bristletooth Tang) — 1st Choice
or
1 x Ctenochaetus Strigosus (Yellow Eye Tang)
or
1 x Ctenochaetus Tominiensis (Bristletooth Tomini Tang)

May not add this as it nips at corals
1 x Centropyge loricula (Flame Angelfish)

I look forward to hearing your guys comments and I will keep adding as I get new equipment and progress.

Thanks

Austin

angels are always hit or miss on nipping at corals....I have had three angels in my time and none nipped at corals

Good luck with setup! Angelfish are always a hit or miss.

Yeah I am really think about dropping the Flame Angel, I will attempt to find a suitable replacement that is as coloful and vibrant.

So here is an updated list;

2 x Amphiprion Percula (True Percula Clownfish)

1 x Paracheilinus carpenteri (Carpenter's Flasher Wrasse)
1 x Paracheilinus cyaneus (Blue Flasher Wrasse)

1 x Pseudanthias bartlettorum (bartletts anthias)
1 x Pseudanthias rubrizontaus (Tricolor, redbelted anthias)

Depending on available stock 1 of the below
1 x Ctenochaetus Flavicauda (White Tail Bristletooth Tang) — 1st Choice
or
1 x Ctenochaetus Strigosus (Yellow Eye Tang)
or
1 x Ctenochaetus Tominiensis (Bristletooth Tomini Tang)

I welcome all suggestions and comments.

Hi Trigger,

Thanks for your reply,

I picked those Tangs due to the tank dimensions not total system volume, as for the coloring of those tangs I really like the color on the White Tail especially if I can find one with the red undertones.

As for the Anthias I was told keeping more than 1 would result in losses so I picked 1 of two different species.

As for total list I thought 7 fairly decent sized fish was a good start so I would love to hear any recommendations on other fish that would work with the current list.

Ok revising stocking plan list right now.

That's a 75 gal display tank!
Wow ok this changes things

2 clowns black and white
Blue flasher
Carpenters wrasse
SMALL yellow tang and hippo tang
5-7 blue green chromis for the schooling/ reef effect and done.

That way you have
Blue, yellow, red, black&white, and blue/green/silver and now u have all the colors
