I have a 120 gollon tank with 60 gals in my basement sump Tank was community fowlr but has been fish-less for about 6 months . It has 2-6" of sand and probably 50-70 lbs of lr.

My still favorite tank was my 90 tall back in 1988. It had a lion fish, cow fish, panther grouper, eel and some type of wrasse.

I am looking for stocking suggestions for a cool tank.

Well if you loved those fish so much I suggest going with what you seem to like the most, predator fish ;)

Yes, predators, but what kind? I think I will have a lion (dwarf probably), but after that I am pretty open. Anything work with a cuc?
Predators and CUC don't really mix well. A good way to keep algae down is by having low nutrients in general. For fish if you want an eel a zebra moray is good for a 120. I'm not too sure about other fish that are compatible with lions that's not really my area of expertise, sorry ;Sorry

You could do multiple varieties of dwarf or medium body lions, in a community tank I would suggest getting their feeding habits situated before adding them to the dt. A ribbon eel or a snowflake or skelator eel, I just believe the zebra gets too large for a 120. If a ribbon eel, same advice as the lions, get their feeding situated. A dog face puffer, harlequin tusk, scopas tang, kole tang,. If not a harlequin tusk maybe a different wrasse just to large for the lions to eat. Also a number of dwarf angels to chose from, Just spit balling.

Cuc will be determined by your final choices, snails and crabs are fine with lions. Urchins work fine, likely no shrimp because they would be food for most.

I like it! I know I want a lionfish, I would love a trio of flame angels (or similar) ,an eel would be cool. How much more room do I have? A small tang and wrasse?
