Hopefully we'll be in our new apartment this week, so I'll get the tank cycling. My last reef was a 180g, so moving back to a nano size is gonna make me think hard about what I can keep. What kinds of fish would you put in a 34g cube? I'm looking for color and personality. :D

As for corals, I'm planning to go SPS dominant with some LPS and clams.

Just my oppinion of course, but these guys are just so much fun.

Thanks for those suggestions! I'm thinking a goby of some type is a must, and a firefish possibly!

I'm actually considering a couple of basslets now. I know I want to get a candy basslet, but I'm also considering a golden assessor basslet. Just not sure if I can keep them both in the same tank. A royal gramma was another possible on my list...

I always like the Royal Gramma, Yellow Tail Damsels, Clowns. Possum wrasse looks like an awesome fish. Personally I would try a golden assessor basslet. I would avoid Cherub Angel as I have not been able to keep them in tanks with sps and clams without issue.
Yellow Watchman Goby is also a nice nano fish.
I have kept trios of Fire Fish with success, they do need a lid at all times, and do better with other passive fish types.

Ooooo I am excited for you!

I've always liked the idea of a species type tank - particularily with smaller fish. I think an awesome tank would be a handful of bangaii cardinals and a few longspine urchins. But then again, I really love those fish. The LFS near me has a 30ish gallon cube thats got a dozen or so chalk basslets and a lone leopard wrasee that looks so very sharp as well.

A candy basslet and yellow assessor would both be compatible together.

Other cool fish would include Lipogramma evides, sunburst anthias, curious wormfish, grammica goby, a small barnacle blenny colony, trimma or eviota gobies, pink streak wrasse, pike blennies.

So...yeah...I just checked the price on a Candy Basslet (Liopropoma carmabi) and...:eek::eek: I believe I spoke way too quickly. Those guys are EXPENSIVE!! I was expecting to be between $100-$200, but I can't go almost $1k. o_O  Oh well...at least the golden assessor is within my budget...

You can always go for a swales basslet, they are the poor man's candy basslet. That's what I have.

We get these into the store pretty often. They are very very pretty!
