Like the title states, looking for some suggestions on what to add to my 125g (+40g sump with fuge) mixed reef as I feel like it needs more activity. Here’s a current list of fish in there:

Purple Tang
Sailfin Tang
Hippo Tang
Coral Beauty (may get switched for a flame angel)
Orange Firefish
Bicolor Blenny
Watchmen Goby
Spotted Mandarin
Royal Gramma
Six Line Wrasse
Clownfish (he’s a dick, killed the other one)
Foxface

Emerald Crab
Longspine Urchin
Peppermint Shrimp
Pistol Shrimp
Cleaner Shrimp (x2)

What I plan on getting:

Tailspot Blenny (possibly - if no aggression)
Lyretail Anthias Pair
Banggai Cardinalfish
Chromis
Green Mandarin (maybe)

Just looking for some other possible suggestions as far as fish and invert.

Honestly , when those 3 tangs and the fox face are grown, it’s gonna be full. I would stop.

Id agree, also your Hippo is going to need something in the neighborhood of a 180. If your going to be putting in a larger tank or beefing up the bio media you may be alright bioload wise, but size wise Hippos like their room to run. Depending on your overflow design you may look at a loading your overflows and sump with Marine Pure, I did this for my 125 as I like to go heavy on the fish and have not had an issue but it requires a re-circulation pump in the overflow and is dependent on how big your overflow boxes are. I also run a monster skimmer compared to tank volume.

Tank has enough bio media filtration to support over 400 gallons and skimmer rated for a 200 gallon tank. By the time the fish get big enough to outgrow the tank they’ll be in a 300 gallon system.

I thought butterfly fish weren’t reef safe?
Pyramids are planktivores so they are generally fine in reefs. Ive heard they will eat xenia though. Which is normally a godsend for most people lol.

You should be good then, I did the same with my 125 with enough to support a 1200 gallon. Just be sure to keep on that 300 setup and you will be fine. As an example my 125:

FoxFace
Powder Blue Tang
Hawaiian Yellow Tang
Vlamingi Tang
x2 Percula
x2 Clarkii
x2 Skunk clown
x2 Azure Damsel
Melanarus Wrasse
Striped Cleaner Wrasse
Yellow Watchman
Mandarin Goby

Skunk Cleaner
Fire Shrimp
x5 Peppermint Shrimp
x3 Emeralds
Sea Apple
x2 Lettuce nudi
Turnicates
Sea cucumbers
Marbled Star
God knows how many hermits and snails
Numerous scallop and clam hitchikers

Bubble Tip
Sebae
Long Tentacle
Toadstool
Finger Leather
Duncan
Red Ricordia x5
Gorgonians
Blue Acro
Kenya Tree
Green Cabage
Birdsnest
Green Monti

So yes, balancing the bio media can work for sure. The tank above even survived an anemone getting into a koralia and a sea cucumber going pop without any negative effects. That said though the sump runs the length of the tank and the skimmer can filter 3 times that volume before hitting the 'medium stocking' level.
