Hey all, I have a 120 reef, established for 6 years now. Been slowly adding all the livestock I never got to add in those 6 years now.
Currently I have two false Perculas hosting a hammer, 5 green chromis, 1 spotted bristletooth tang, a royal gramma, lawnmower blenny, and green dragonet, and 2 neon cleaner gobies.
I think I’m mostly maxed out concerning free-swimmers in my tank, although I’ve been looking to grab 1-3 Anthias to add to the water column and hopefully keep the chromis from feeling like they own the surface.
I bought two pearly jawfish which I’m convinced are both dead. I think the transport was just too stressful for them and they weren’t able to really get comfortable. I really want to retry and hopefully have at least one.
Some other wants: I do love the idea of an engineer goby to keep the sandbed turned over and fresh, and I love (LOVE) watching industrious fish that change up their environment. Kinda concerned about some of the smaller fish in my tank, and even having doubts about the 120 being big enough for him.
Also considering a yellow tang, although leaning towards no considering I have one already and don’t know if they’ll start feeling crammed.
I liked the idea of a pistol/goby pair but that’s a rare buy at any of my LFS. also unsure if they’d cause trouble with a jawfish/engineer.
Bottom line is I prefer fish that have interesting habits and interactions with other fish than those that are purely pretty to look at. Any suggestions?
Here’s my tank so you get an idea of swimming space and rockwork.
