Would you recommend dwarf angelfish in a 32 gallon tank with minimal tank mates? If so, which ones?

I think 32 gallons is pretty small for a dwarf angel. Starkii damsel makes a nice substitute IMO.

Kept a flame angel in a 32 gallon mixed reef. Personally enjoyed mine and he never nipped at coral. If you want a fish that'll pop and can thrive in a tank that size the Midas blenny never disappoints.

Call me conservative but I would not recommend any dwarf angel in a tank below 75 gallons (long). You could probably fit a Pygmy (C. aurantontus, C. resplendens, C. argi, C. fisheri, C. acanthops) in a 55 gallon.

I agree, maybe a Starckii Damsel (if you can find one) may be a good substitute for a dwarf / Pygmy angel.

32 gal is probably quite small. You might find that you would have to re-home him if you bought him. Also, you would have to accept that he might nip your corals.

I have the biocube, and bought my own specialized media for the filter. It works quite well, also I do water changes about every couple weeks.

You’ll hear opinions from both side (and many will say you need a 2000g tank for X fish).

If you watch your ammonia and other tests, maybe increase water change frequency (if needed). Definitely count him as a large bio load for tank, so I stand by my (opinion) of 3 fish max.
