Hi everybody,
Been keeping reef tanks for over 20 years, with a few years' break a couple years ago. Worked at a LFS through high school, then got my B.S. in Aquaculture from Florida Tech. While there, I worked in the aquaculture lab culturing phtyo, rotifers, copepods, and barnacles. My big research project involved alternative first foods for orchid dottyback larvae.

When I graduated, I was hired to grow algae at a company doing microalgae-based biodiesel. I currently am a R&D manager at a company that grows and processes aquatic plants for food ingredients.

Current tank is a 180 barebottom SPS tank attached through the wall to a 60g lagoon tank. They share a common sump/filtration etc.

I enjoy DIY reef projects a lot, and have built numerous filters, lights, reactors, etc over the years.

Welcome! Glad you joined. Sounds like you have LOTS of experiences to share!

Have you considered starting your build thread? I found its a great place to document my tank's evolution for myself. I started tank first then joined, so I'm still finding myself going back collecting pictures & updating historically as well as current state. Once you create your first post in your thread under Forum > Member Aquariums and link it to your account, they will give you build badge (look left, under my ID)

This might help you find people local to you in Vero Beach:

This is a good reference book type online article I still review:
