This is going to be a dumb question, but, should I be worried that my starfish just loves this one rock.
He moves all around the rock but just won’t leave his rock.
I am assuming he will leave it once he feels he has gotten all goods. I just didn’t think the rock looked that dirty.

Obviously I do not want to stress him and remove him from his emotional support rock but, there is a nice dirty patch on the back wall I want him to clean lol.

Just wanting to make sure it is doing ok and there is nothing to worry about.

It’s most likely just looking for food. This tank looks extremely new though and isnt the best fit for a linckia starfish atm. They like more established tanks with lots to feed off of
The rock is not, it has been up and running for a couple years. There is one new in there because I wanted to try my hand at sculpting. Came out looking like Godzilla.

according to the LFS this is a Fromia. I know they are still not the best in aquariums but better than linckia.

If it is the 12 gallon tank in your profile it is not gonna have enough live rock for this starfish.
I am not great with starfish id but it does look lanky like a linckia starfish

if it’s actually mobile but seems to stay in a area then I would not worry about it..
I doubt there is enough brain there to be “strategic” for any reason … i also think it’s a food/feeding motivated thing
