I have a pair of designer clowns (forgot the marketing name) that prefer a small torch over a large BTA. Has anybody run into a similar issue? I was thinking of putting some kind of weighted cover over the torch in hopes that they would move into the sweet pad next door.

They are going to host whatever anemone/coral they want, just as an anemone will move to whatever location it wants...... just let them be.... give them time, they may check out the bubble tip when they are bigger.

Patience! The fact they are hosting your torch is not too bad of a sign. I have had clowns that have hosted in mushrooms and brain corals... They then moved on to hammers... and then settled into Nems. A lot of people can't get clowns to host anything. Just be patient.

Well hopefully they will move on pretty soon. My torch isn't appreciate of the squatters. I did see them try to feed the torch some Reef Frenzy last night. So I guess they are paying their rent.

Mine love my hammer coral over the 4 BTAs in my tank ;Facepalm

Yep, nothing out of the ordinary. In the past I have had them host powerheads, locline, corners of the tank, etc...
I would just keep an eye on the torch to make sure they don’t beat it up too much. If it is constantly retracted I would make an effort to evict the clowns.
There are a ton of different methods to get them to host but many of them can result in a nasty sting to the clowns.
As mentioned above it is a waiting game.
