So I bought two 15g food grade storage barrels. They were previously used for soda. 20 bucks for both, couldn't pass it up just in case I could use them. theres a small opening on them, not big enough to get a hand in to scrub out real good. so Ive rinsed them multiple times, used vinegar to try and rinse them out. they still smell like soda.

Is there anything else I can use to clean them out? and will the soda syrup be harmful to the tank if there is any leftover in the container?

I have been trying to find those everywhere! Where did you find them?

As for cleaning, I’d do what you did. You can clean them with soap too. Just have to rinse it out really well after.

Found them locally from a guy who serviced soda machines and was getting out of the business. I may have to get a mop, cut some of the end off to reach the bottom. Ive rinsed it as best as I can about 15 times. still smells like dr.pepper. lol
