I purchased this storage tank, rinsed it a few times before filling it up and now I'm about to use the water I made in it for the first time. I noticed there was a plastic taste to the water while I was siphoning it into the tank.

Is this something I should be concerned with??

Thank you.

In the description it lists “Animal compatible” which next to it says n/a . I would call them and or the manufacturer to see if this product is able to be used for potable water / drinking water . Did you rinse it out well . I could understand a little plastic smell but taste I’m not sure of.

A few years ago I used a tank like this for many months to hold ATO water. When i bought it, It had a heavy plasic/poly smell. I rinsed with vinegar nd water and had no issues. A good suggestion made- Contact manufacturer on label and get their assurance and write down who you spoke with- date- and time in the event of any issues

Maybe soak some plain RO water in it for a few days if your worried about something leeching, but it’s new polypropylene so it’s likely just some smell from manufacturing - it’ll be fine
