Hi! So I had an issue with freeze in January and had to order new RODI equipment, so bought water from local LFS. Should have tested it before using it, BUT I didn’t. Tested it this morning from the container I purchased it in and test show nitrite and nitrates, is this normal for LFS water? BTW, my RODI equipment came last week so will be testing my own water and looks like doing some water changes today.

Never trust Lfs water source. If it's anything like mine there rodi unit is not the cleanest.

What values? Which kit?

Is it supposed to be just RODI water, or did you purchase it premixed?

It's fine you can use it. I use the exact same pre mix from my lfs and those salts have organics in them which may report variance on cheap non digital kits

The salts have low level ammonia, safe non concerning levels, their holding water vat hasn't been cleaned and sterilized so the bioslicks keep a mini cycle going/ not a problem. I bet your corals look fine with it

I wonder if they're just selling their recycled tank water

I don’t think so but who knows, I know they have large containers and RODI units, maybe just need to change their cartridges more frequently because of large volume of water. I am going to mix my own today and test and compare.

I'm interested in your results... this actually has me wanting to test my water when I mix it for my next water change out of curiousity.

Some wholefood stores have those RODI machines.
Thank you. Sadly, no Wholefoods near me, but got my Spectrapure canisters and filters so I can only blame myself now

I am going to test my water later this evening and will post. Will be using Marin Classic salt.

My RODI with Marin Classic salt, 0 nitrite, 0 Nitrate
