I’m about to start using AFR and once I mix it up (ie add water) I’m wondering how long can I store it before use?

By “lengthy” would a couple of months be okay?

Yes. That is what he is saying. Very saturated. I make 3600 ml at a time and see no fall off. At my dose rate I go through it within 30 to 40 days and see no impact. I'll be making larger batches shortly. I store under the stand, cool, dry, area. Not in direct light or heat.

Question 10 here:

Randy, just used a thread to ask you this. But is syncaine reef safe? Another-wards, if I need to sedate the fish in the tank, can I dose until light enough sedation to remove fish is achieved. After which the fish will be out of the dt for 30 days and water changes with carbon will be used to remove any left over medication. Chasing these sick fish around is only going to kill them.

I don’t know what effects it might have on inverts and such in the tank during dosing. . Sorry.

I've always avoided using Tricaine/Syncaine MS-222 in any aquarium or container that I could not change 100% of the water in afterwards. It lowers the pH and solutions of it change over time (turn brownish) so there is something going on that I don't want in an aquarium. It does not seem to anesthetize invertebrates like octopus though. I've never tried it in a tank with coral

I mix 1000ml of the powder and keep it in an old AFR 1000ml bottle. I use a glass water bottle as my dosing bottle and refill as needed and calibrate the doser every time I fill the bottle back up. Using the Black Kamora doser. Dose 32ml a day and have been for about 2 years now. I’ll give the storage bottle a little shake before I refill. The dose bottle usually have very little buildup on the bottom stuff should be able to sit in definitely.

Thanks!

I mix 2L at a time and dose from a 1L clear bottle. It does get a little brown/pink gunk in the bottom so I always switch out the dosing bottles.
