Im down to make new water! Would using old water and liverock benefit for the biofilter?Just curious why not just make new saltwater? Nothing really beneficial in keeping the old water to be honest. Unless you wanna saving some money. Then I would just store in rubbermaid containers with some water movement.

old water is just dirty water, beneficial bacteria reside in rocks, sand, pipes and equipment.Im down to make new water! Would using old water and liverock benefit for the biofilter?
I don't QT corals, if u are concerned with hitchhikers then I'd just remove the coral from plug it came in and attach to new plug prior to adding to tank after acclimation. How would you setup an sps qt?
Not rinsing with fresh water just new salt water but keep in mind you can't let the rock and sand dry out. So me personally would keep the water with the rock and sand with water movement until ready to use. You also need to feed the rock to keep it useful. Hth.All your biofilter is encysted upon the rocks and sand.
If you want to keep anything beneficial, save the rock and sand and rinse very well.
100% new salt water i would recommend.
