Sump shopping. Other than the obvious where it's easier to change the filter socks, are there any advantages between:
-Plumbing straight down into a filter sock

-flow-over type boxes where the drain runs into one chamber which then flows over and down through the filter sock?

Depending on the height drop from the overflow into your sump, straight into the socks might cause any waste/food to be slammed constantly by water forcing it threw the socks and into the system.

When the water first hits the bottom of the sump, the water slows down and its less likely that caught waste in the socks are rammed into smaller pieces and let through.

Thanks, that isn't something I'd considered at all.
