So prior to tonight when I would feed I would simply turn off the wave makers. Tonight I also turned off the return pump which I planned to start doing every time I feed. The fish in the tank about had a heart attack and hid. Which needless to say doesn’t make it easy to feed them.
Should I stop turning off the return pump or are they going to get used to the calmness?

Most dc pumps have a feed mode which cuts the power a lot

I never turn return pumps or wave makers off . Even for feeding .

Unfortunately when I was starting this all I didn’t realize I should by a DC pump. Instead I bought a regular sicce not the Wi-Fi. So turning it down not off isn’t really an option. I’m still in the first few months so haven’t wanted to drop even more money on a new pump to replace the new pump I have.

They’ll absolutely get used to the new feeding regimen. Feed them anyway. They’ll catch on. Once they smell the food in the water, they’ll come back out. If not at first, they will eventually.
