Two of my clowns, a male and female ocellari, have been displaying odd behavior the past week. There's a small cave. The male sites outside while the female disappears inside poking around then comes out to look inside the cave. Then back in again and repeat... all the time. Here's a video...

Maybe she is guarding her stuff inside that cave.

But she's always been such a minimalist. It's just unusual behavior which always concerns me.

That'd be quite awesome!! But I've always been told they only lay eggs on a flat Terra-cotta like surface. Never heard of them using caverns... u?
Maybe she has eggs in there

The clownfish in finding nemo Layed them in a cave hehe

You mean in that Disney animated documentary about a clown and a blue tang?!

lol yup. not quite a documentary, but i watched the bonus features, and i must say, disney did do alot of research about reefs and such while making the movie to make things realistic

i could be wrong, but i think its not uncommon for clowns to lay eggs in a tank, the other fish tend to eat the eggs tho. at least i think….

Thanks for the help!! I know it's quite common but not sure if this is mating behavior im seeing or something else...
